Your Values and Life Coaching with NLP

Values are your personal standards. They let you know what is important to you. Without values, all experience would be the same. There would be no motivation to change your experience.When we behave in accordance with our values there is a feeling of congruency to our experience. We feel fulfilled as a person.When we are unaware of or out of touch with our values life can become 'The Wasteland' as described so accurately by T.S. Elliot;

"... I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing"

All of us have values but only some of us are aware of what our deepest values are.

An important thing about values is that they are unique to the individual.

So what is important in being aware of our values?

When an individual is aware of his/her values then their behaviour becomes more focused and they are more likely to have their values fulfilled.

When our values are unconscious our experience is less likely to be fulfilling. We can find ourselves striving and achieving outcomes only to be less than satisfied with the result. Joseph Campbell, the mythologist, describes this experience as 'climbing the ladder of success only to find it leaning against the wrong wall'.

Motivation is much prized. There is a lot said about the importance of being able to behave in ways that will fulfil your values.

Think of it. Self motivation!
